Support for Young People

Early Intervention Service for young people aged 11-17 (referral required)

This group work support is for young people, aged 11-17, with low to moderate mental health needs who have been referred through the Early intervention Service, accessed through either:
-       a GP referral or
-       self referral using the My Self Referral portal (www.myselfreferral-llr.nhs.uk)
Upon referral, Heads Up will contact families to offer their young person a place on the Boost programme.
Boost aims to equip young people with a better understanding of mental and emotional health, coping strategies and emotional resilience.
Young people attending will be of a similar age, 11-13 or 14-17 and will meet at the same time each week for 1 hour.   As Boost is a rolling programme young people may join and leave at different times.
Boost is a friendly and relaxed environment, a calm and positive space to help young people share experiences and learn together.

Boost includes the following topics:
  • Triggers and escalation
  • Thoughts
  • Behaviours
  • Body Response
  • Feelings
  • Sleep
  • Diet and exercise
  • Looking after ourselves

What young people say about Boost:
"Boost really helped me, I learnt why I even get these feelings and how to cope with them."

"At first I was scared to go to Boost, but the people here are really nice.  It's alright to be nervous, but once I started the group I didn't want to stop going"

 In 'three' words:
"it 'Boosts' you"       "helpful, fun, safe"     "helpful, relatable, supportive"       "amazing, fun, cool"
