CFF Anniversary Collective Poem

Embracing our arty selves was the order of the day when we were joined by mental health nurse / poet / comedian, Rob Gee who helped us to write a collective poem about CFF! A fast paced and fun experience - see what you think! 

In 1990 when we started, who’d have thought we’d still be here?
They assumed we’d become irrelevant, but quite the opposite is clear.
In spite of all the self-help and social media in their lives,
People still have limited access to trusted support and advice.
So in and out of lockdown, it’s more important now than ever,
That CFF helps young people and their families to grow and work together.
 
We’ve had to learn to adapt, to helping people via Zoom,
‘Cause you can’t see all the cues you’d normally see, if you were with them in the room.
Our technology got upgraded, for which we truly thank,
A grant for phones from the County Council and laptops from Lloyds Bank.
When the lockdown first happened, we had lots of doubts and fears,
But now we’re even stronger, ‘cause you can’t lock down ideas!
 
We help young people and their families, in a way that’s human and always kind,
Bringing people together to learn, share and to have a good time.
Somethings never change for us, whether face to face or online,
Because the experience of seeing them grow in confidence, is utterly sublime.
Looking to the future, we know we make a difference without making a fuss,
And we’ll bring people together for the next thirty years – putting families at the heart of us.
